Move over, Michigan

I sounded off on being a person who appreciates porn on the last episode. I gave my heartfelt sympathy to Michigan amidst H.B. 4938 and the potential total porn ban in their state. That sucks... 

However, on September 26th, the new age verification law to access Pornhub in Arizona went into effect. Pornhub disagreed with the measure of Arizona users uploading ID verification to access porn on their site, stating we should instead focus on devices and not infringe on privacy. (You can Google it to read up more on it).

Soooo.... move over, Michigan. Arizona is joining you in the battle of porn amongst states. It brings up so many questions: How do we protect our children from accessing porn online? Does this violate our First Amendment as adults? And most importantly... where do we go from here?

H.B. 4938 and pornography's fate

Michigan GOP lawmakers introduced House Bill 4938, called the "Anticorruption of Public Morals" act. In essence, it is an attempt to ban porn. Rep. Josh Schriver, the primary sponsor for the bill, states that H.B 4938 would prohibit the distribution of "real,  animated, digitally, generated, or auditory" depictions of sexual acts, including intercourse and masturbation. 

If this becomes a law, a person can face fines and possible imprisonment if violation of the law occurs.
